Privacy policy.

What ASV collects, who can see it, and what we never do with it. Reading the public site asks almost nothing of you; most of what follows concerns ASV Projects.

The short version

  • You can read everything on the public site without an account, and it sets no advertising or analytics cookies.
  • When you click Apply, you leave ASV for the platform, through a referral link where we have one. From there, the platform’s own privacy policy applies.
  • If you sign in to ASV Projects, we keep what you give us to run your account and pay you, and show other contributors only what the work requires.
  • We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for advertising.

Browsing the public site

The platform profiles, guides and blog are open to everyone. Reading them does not require an account, and we never ask for your name or email to do so.

Cookies. The public site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. The only cookies ASV uses are the ones that keep you signed in to ASV Projects, and a light or dark display preference if you choose one in the app.

As with any website, the servers that deliver ASV receive basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, in order to send you its pages.

Applying to a platform

Apply buttons send you on through a short link on ASV: /go/ followed by the platform’s name, or, for a job opening, /go/jobs/ followed by the opening’s name. A platform’s button leads to the platform, through our referral link where we have one. An opening’s leads to the role itself where we have a referral link for that role or, on Mercor, a referral code we can add to the role’s listing. Failing that, where our referral link covers the whole platform, it goes through that link to the platform’s sign-up page; otherwise, it opens the public listing, which may sit on a hiring site the platform uses, such as Greenhouse or Lever. ASV never sees what you share after that: not your application, your assessment results, your identity documents or your payment details.

Once you arrive on a platform’s site, or on the hiring site that carries its listing, that site’s own privacy policy governs what it collects and how it uses it. Read it before you sign up.

Through its referral program, a platform may let ASV know that someone it referred has signed up, been accepted or completed work, so that it can pay a referral bonus. What it shares for that purpose is set by the platform’s own policies. How ASV makes money explains referrals in full.

ASV accounts and Projects

Everything in this section applies only if you sign in to work on ASV Projects.

What we store

When you sign in with Google we store your email address, display name, and avatar. You can change your display name, avatar, bio, country, and skills at any time, along with anything else you choose to add to your profile. Your email is never shown to other contributors.

Payment details

To pay you for accepted work, we ask for the bank account you want to be paid into: the bank’s name, the account number, the account holder’s name and, where your bank uses one, a sort code. Only you and the ASV administrators who make payments can see them.

What others can see

Other contributors can see your display name, avatar, level, your place in the claim order, and how long you have been working on a task you claimed. This transparency is how ASV Projects works. Administrators may configure a task to show contributors anonymously instead.

Nobody except you and the project’s administrators can read your uploaded archives, your proposal, or your private feedback.

Leaderboards

You can opt out of public leaderboard display in settings and keep your private statistics. Your points and level stay exactly as they are; you simply leave the public ranking.

Audit records

Claims, submissions, reviews, decisions, and point changes are recorded immutably so the history of a task stays accurate and reviewable.

Deleting your account

You can delete your account from settings. Deleting it permanently removes your name, email, avatar, profile, bank details and notifications, and unlinks your Google sign-in. Your submissions, claim history and the record of payments made to you are kept, because the history of work reviewed and money paid has to stay accurate. But they are kept as “Deleted contributor”, with nothing linking them to you. If ASV still owes you money, it has to be paid before the account can be deleted, since deletion removes the bank details it would be sent to.

Service providers

ASV relies on a small number of service providers to host the site and its email, store its data and handle sign-in. They process personal information only on our behalf, and only to run ASV. When you sign in with Google, Google confirms who you are under its own privacy policy. We do not sell personal information to anyone, or share it with advertisers.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the date at the top of the page changes with it. If a change affects how we handle information you have already given us, we will tell ASV Projects contributors in the app before it takes effect.

Questions

To ask about this policy, or about information ASV holds about you, email support@asvalley.com. If you email us, your address and your message are kept in ASV’s inbox so we can reply.
